New to Our Art Programs? Start Here!

Our one-hour Intro to Art Program is the first step for anyone new to our studio or programs. Even if you’ve attended camp or have prior experience, this is where everyone starts. Our instructors will guide you, assess your skills, and help place you in the right program. These sessions are designed to benefit all new students and build a strong foundation for success.

Intro to Art Enrollment & Level Placement Guidance

Our Intro to Art Program is the best starting point for new students. It allows our team to evaluate each student in person, understand their current skill level, and confidently recommend the most appropriate class placement for long-term success.

For Students with Prior Art Experience

If a student has previous formal art education or consistent training, they are welcome to enroll directly in Level 1 or Level 2 programs.

We do not recommend enrolling in Level 2 or Level 3 unless the student is:

  • At least 13 years old, or

  • Specifically recommended by one of our instructors after an in-person evaluation

This ensures students feel confident, supported, and able to keep up with the pace of instruction.

For Adults (Ages 18+)

Adults have flexibility when choosing where to begin.

You may choose to start with Intro to Art if you’d like to review foundational techniques before entering Level 2 or Level 3. Ask yourself whether easing into the basics would help you feel more confident and comfortable — this is completely okay. Learning a new skill should be exciting and stress-free, not overwhelming, and we want you to enjoy the process without being hard on yourself.

That said, adults are also welcome to begin directly in Level 2 or Level 3, or enroll in one of our 5-week programs, without completing Intro to Art first.

Our goal is to place every student — child or adult — into classes that feel supportive, motivating, and appropriate, so they can enjoy their artistic journey and grow with confidence.

For best results, we encourage students to complete 4–6 consecutive sessions of our Intro to Art Program before moving into standard classes. Young artists ages 5–8 may enroll in Art Explorers or any of the Creative Series programs listed on the Spring Schedule page.

*Please note that the hour sessions are excluded from any discounts.
