Art Portfolio Support & Long-Term Growth
We’re proud to help students prepare art portfolios for admission into magnet and art-focused middle and high schools in Las Vegas. It’s an exciting milestone — and we’re honored to be part of that journey.
But our support doesn’t stop at acceptance. At Bash & Design Gallery, we offer continued mentorship and artistic development beyond school requirements. As a working fine art gallery led by a professional artist, we provide students with opportunities that go far beyond the classroom — including real-world projects, exhibitions, and collaborations with local businesses.
Staying connected to different artistic environments nurtures creative growth and helps students develop their voice, versatility, and confidence. Whether your goal is to build a strong portfolio or pursue art as a lifelong passion, our studio is here to guide, inspire, and support you every step of the way.
Planning Your Art Portfolio? Start Early.
If you’re preparing a portfolio for an art school application, planning ahead is key. Begin by checking with your intended school for important details — such as application deadlines and portfolio requirements. These vary by program and are your responsibility to track.
We recommend starting at least one year in advance and committing to a minimum of two programs per week (about 3 hours weekly). This could mean attending the same class twice, such as Painting & Drawing, as each session offers different projects. The more practice, the better — once-a-week attendance is simply not enough for meaningful portfolio development.
Here’s the recommended path:
-
Start with Painting & Drawing
Build foundational skills, explore different techniques, and strengthen observation and execution through guided instruction.
-
Add Personalized Art Experience (after 6 months)
This program allows students to tailor their work to the portfolio requirements of the school they’re applying to. Instructors provide personalized feedback to help identify and develop strengths.
-
Include Self-Directed Studio Time
Use this time to focus independently on your portfolio pieces. Students are encouraged to bring work in progress to class for instructor feedback and direction.
-
Schedule Private Sessions (as deadlines approach)
Closer to submission time, private sessions can help fine-tune artwork, finalize selections, and ensure everything meets portfolio standards.

Starting Late? Here’s What You Need to Know:
If your audition or portfolio submission is less than 8 months away, we highly recommend enrolling in 2–3 programs per week to make meaningful progress. This includes Painting & Drawing (multiple times per week is encouraged) and Personalized Art Experience for tailored portfolio development.
The shorter your timeline, the more structured support and focused practice you’ll need. Planning ahead is ideal — but starting now with full commitment can still lead to strong results.
